Wā Ora Montessori School is an Area School based in Lower Hutt, just 30 minutes from the capital city of New Zealand. Wellington is renowned for being the “Coolest Little Capital in the World” (Lonely Planet), and is close to bush walks, beaches, a great cultural scene and some of the world’s best restaurants, cafes and coffee.

Wā Ora is the only Montessori School in New Zealand that nurtures the child from 18months to 18years. We are a community-based school with close connections to our whānau (families).

We are seeking an experienced Senior or Middle Leader for our Montessori High School programme (Yr8-13) and to be part of our innovative Senior Leadership Team. You will also be working closely with the Lead Teacher of the Adolescent Programme (Yr8-10). A working knowledge of the NZ Curriculum and NCEA is a must and prior experience in pastoral care and the role of Principal Nominee would be advantageous.

Applicants must have NZ teacher registration and a valid working visa. A willingness and ability to take part in special instruction appropriate to the Special Character of the school is a condition of appointment and if successful, you will be required and supported to undertake Montessori training.

Successful applicants will:
● Be responsible for the day to day operations of the High School (Yr8-13)
● Report directly to the Principal
● Support learning across the High School and be open to ideas
● Be a leader not a “boss” with a collaborative working style
● Have strong behaviour management skills
● Be an effective communicator
● Be approachable and flexible
