We go in a bus to swimming lessons. We like sitting in the back of the bus. After our lesson we come back on the same bus.
We need our togs, towel, goggles and swim cap in a bag for swimming lessons.
After we get changed we line up in our groups ready for our instructors.
It's fun to do races and looking down in to the water to get a toy. We use kick boards to help us swim and to make waves. We love making bubbles. - Avery
I like doing kicking on my back and I am proud of myself to swim on my back. - Arya
I like swimming on my front because it's fun. - Pinak
We need to have a lot of strength to swim. - Jack
I love swimming. - Catalina
We have fun and start with dolphin dives. - Anita
I like doing 3 stroke and dolphin kicks. - Alice
Thank you Ben for teaching us to swim. I enjoy backstroke and hide and seek goggle game. - Jocelyn

Primary Swimming
A reminder that swimming lessons for Primary ākonga continue for a second week.
Please help your tamariki remember their swimsuit, cap, goggles, and towel each morning. If your child finds dressing tricky, please send them in easy-to-manage clothes and footwear (socks can be especially difficult). If they wear their swimsuit to school, please make sure their underwear is packed too.
Please also ensure everything is packed in a separate swim bag so wet togs and towels aren’t going home in school backpacks.

PTA Pool Party
The Pool Party was a splashing great night filled with loads of fun!
With over 120 tickets sold, it was awesome to see so many families come along and support the event. Although we had a few issues with the water temperature, the kids and parents still had a fantastic time, and we’ve already received some amazing feedback for next year!
A huge thank you to school parent Amey at CK & Co. for generously sponsoring the pizzas, and to Pizza Hut Lower Hutt for getting them to us hot and right on time.
Keep an eye out later this year for information on the 2027 Pool Party - we can’t wait to do it all again!

Pink Shirt Day
Pink Shirt Day cupcakes were a huge success this year!
A massive thank you to everyone who supported us by purchasing cupcakes and helping spread such an important message of kindness and inclusion throughout our school community. It truly shows how special our little community is.
Unfortunately, we completely sold out this year and sincerely apologise to anyone who missed out. We have definitely taken note and will make sure we have plenty more next year!
We’ll keep everyone updated once we have the final total amount raised and let you know what the funds will be going towards.
Thank you again for your amazing support!

Symphony in the Hutt – Walter Nash Stadium
One of the biggest and most important events in the Orchestra Wellington calendar, Symphony in the Hutt returns for another year with special guest, Hollie Smith!
On Friday 22 May, Orchestra Wellington will bring a jam-packed concert of treats to the Hutt. In previous years we have had Divas and Queens, Movie Music, Lion King, Elton John and much, much more. We’re not alone in this endeavour – we’re joined onstage by the incredible Hollie Smith, Signature Choir, and the amazing Arohanui Strings+. More details of the programme will be released ahead of the concert, so stay tuned.
This event is entirely FREE and is very, very popular – so be sure to arrive early to get a good seat!

In the second week of the school holidays (14th - 18th April), six Wā Ora High School students (Atreyu Olsen, Angus Newlands, Valentino Trujillo, Eli Jansen, Ollie Partridge and Moyana Nordstrand) attended the Hoop Nation Basketball tournament in Whanganui, under Wainuiomata Basketball. There were two teams: U15 and U17 - this was the first time for all 6 students to attend this tournament.
Our players got to come up against some of the best basketball players in NZ in their age group. It was a great basketball learning experience and the team activities we did off the court, helped all players to get to know each other a lot more.
The trip consisted of 16 players and 6 adult volunteers. I would like to thank all volunteers for taking the time to be there for our young men.
I’m looking forward to our next tournament in October.
