Preschool Playground Use After 3pm
A friendly reminder for Preschool whānau about the use of the Preschool playground after 3pm for tamariki who are not booked into our Extended Afternoon Hours programme.
We understand that pick-up can be a lovely opportunity for parents to catch up and for tamariki to spend time with friends from other classes and siblings from Primary. However, the Preschool outdoor area forms part of our licensed space and is used by the Extended Afternoon Hours programme.
To support our health, safety and regulatory requirements, we ask that whānau please keep their time onsite at Preschool to under 15 minutes after 3pm and ensure tamariki are actively supervised during this time.
After collecting your tamariki, you are very welcome to continue catching up and playing in the Primary playground.
Thank you for your understanding and support.

Preschool Information Evening - Spread the Word!
Our Preschool Information Evening is this Thursday evening and word of mouth from our whānau is the best way new families discover Wā Ora!
If you have friends who are starting to think about Preschool options for their tamariki, please consider sharing our Facebook event or tagging them in the comments.
We are currently accepting applications for younger tamariki turning 3, so this is a great opportunity for families who may be planning ahead.
Your recommendation means more than any advertisement. Thank you for helping us grow our community!

Lockdown Practice Drill
On Wednesday 12th August there will be a PRACTICE Lockdown Drill. This drill will include the WHOLE school.
Part of our lockdown procedure is to alert parents via email and app notifications that we are in lockdown. Therefore, you will receive notification messages notifying you we are in PRACTICE lockdown mode. You will not need to do anything when you receive this notice. The PRACTICE lockdown drill is scheduled to start sometime around 10:30am and will last approximately 20–30 minutes. School will resume as normal when finished. Please be aware that if you arrive at school to collect your child for an appointment during the practice lockdown, neither you nor your child will be able to leave until the all clear has been given.
This drill is to ensure that our procedures and processes are up to date, and is in the best interests of safety for our staff and students.
Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

Scholastic Catalogues
Issue 4 Scholastic Book Club catalogues went home last week. If you missed out on a copy, extras can be found in the office. Orders are due on Friday 7th August.
Just a reminder that 15% of the total from all orders go towards the school getting rewards to buy more books for the school, which is a great help to us. Thank you to all those who have ordered in the past.

Calling all budding poets! Upper Hutt Libraries’ annual Poetry Competition is now open for entries, with this year’s theme ‘Wilderness’.
The competition is open to children, teens and adults, so this could be a great opportunity for our creative ākonga to put pen to paper and share their poetry.
Entries close 2nd August 2026.

Health Reminder: Gastro Illness
We have had a small number of absences due to vomiting in Preschool. While there is no cause for concern, it is a timely reminder of our guidelines around gastro illnesses.
If your tamaiti has a sore or upset tummy, please keep them home for the day to monitor their symptoms. If they experience vomiting or diarrhoea, they must remain at home for 48 hours after their last episode before returning to school.
Frequent and thorough handwashing is one of the best ways to prevent the spread of gastro bugs, so please encourage this at home as we do at school.
When reporting an absence, please let the office know your tamaiti’s specific symptoms, as this helps us track illnesses and identify any spread within an akomanga or sector.
Thank you for your support.
